A NEW STRATEGY
Saxo Bank’s acquisition of Fondsmæglerselskabet Sirius Kapitalforvaltning A/S towards the end of 2008 marked a new era for the Bank in the area of Asset Management (AM). The strengthening of Saxo Bank’s offering in this area is the first step towards establishing a strong Nordic presence in portfolio management, which will focus on the creation of a first-class competence within the field.
The deal, completed in January 2009, signalled a strengthening and consolidation within the Asset Management segment, with a new focus forming around portfolio management for high-net-worth private clients (HNI), and for the institutional segment.
Saxo Bank aims to build expertise within targeted areas, including a broad based asset management capability, FX and liability management.
The strategy is to become a long-term business partner in AM and the provider of tailored solutions for HNI clients. Saxo Bank’s approach is to offer innovative solutions which are transparent and competitive, with all activities underpinning the strong Saxo Bank brand.
SAXO BANK AND SIRIUS
Sirius operates as a subsidiary of Saxo Bank, and thus maintains an independent profile, with Peter Sandberg and Bjarne Thorup continuing as co-CEOs.
Sirius provides independent expertise and this, combined with Saxo Bank’s approach to advice, forms an enhanced proposition with new products that will benefit high-net-worth clients. Sirius services are available with a minimum deposit of DKK 10 million or EUR 1.5 million.
